FINAL PROJECT
PROGRESS CHECKED DAILY FOR GRADE
Option 1
INSTRUCTIONS:
Pretend you have already had the education / experience you need to apply for your dream job / career. The salary from this job will be used to create your budget.
Based upon real life information:
1. Choose a career (anything you want - you can be whatever you like for the sake of the project)
2. Research the salary
3. Based on the salary, create a household budget for yourself using the budget sheet handout. Use today's market prices.
4. Submit a written essay with spread sheet for final grade.
Links are provided below to help with your research.
Things to keep in mind:
1. Are you budgeting for yourself only, or for a family? If a family, how big?
2. Does your budget include relocation costs in case you find your best chances of that job are somewhere else?
3. Look at the budget sheet links below so you can see all the things you need to think about.
Final completed project will include the budget and short essay explaining your choices.
Questions to be answered include:
1. Did you make this budget based on having a job you think would be fun, satisfying, or for the money? (why did you choose the job/career?)
2. Did you consider a family as part of your budget? If so, explain. If not, what would you have to adjust for if you did have a family?
- how many people you are budgeting for (spouse, children, parents)
3. Conclusion: does the job/career you chose support the lifestyle you really want?
4. What information would have made this project easier? - your thoughts and processes behind doing the research
