A little about me...
I come from that small, out of the way state called Alaska. I grew up camping, hunting blueberries for morning pancakes over an open camp fire, ice skating at Thanksgiving on frozen lakes and happily drinking hot cocoa year round.
I attended the University of Alaska in Fairbanks and received a BA in History with a minor in Psychology. In the end I was only a few credits shy from having a double major (psychology) and a minor in political science - what a combination! It was hard to leave college because I really love learning and being in the school environment.
Traveling to more than 16 countries on 3 continents during college and after, my education has been enhanced by real life experiences. I have hiked the northernmost mountain range in Alaska, lived in a cabin on a mountain built with my own hands (no power tools), split wood, hauled water and raised two precious children.
Needing desperately to thaw out, I moved to Texas in 2006 with my dog and two children and relocated from Kerrville to San Antonio in 2008. I married my husband, Scott, in May of 2009.
While it took me 20 years to find River City, I believe I have been called home. It is where I can be myself and who I am in Christ. I get to share God's love all day long, walk in His Spirit and teach His wisdom. I am filled with the Father's joy daily as I work with students and watch their "ah-ha" moments happen. When I was 9 years old I asked God to give me a big house with lots of children so I could love them and teach them about His love. He has given me the desire of my heart, as His Word promises.
I look forward to continuing to serve Him and you.
In Him,
Erica McCormick
